Resources

If you are just beginning your healthy lifestyle journey you may already realize that there is so much information available these days – you’re head is probably spinning. This is why we felt a resource page may be helpful to help aid you in sorting through the best products. There are many products with labels, such as “natural” that are not the best products for you and your family. They many actually be causing you and your family harm. Remember just because it is on a natural food shelf does not mean it is a good product. We will add to this page as we grow and become aware of other products. If you know of other fabulous products please feel free to share them with us. We will be happy to run them by DRHutch Approved and add to our site.   Have FUN learning:)

Many of the approaches you will see on these sites, we can also offer you through Turning Tides. When we began our journey the information was not as available as it is today. If you are NEW on your journey through addictions and neurobiological disorders you are probably just like a sponge, attempting to soak up as much information as you can possibly retain. We know! We were just like that and we are still hungry to absorb all of the new research being made available centered around alternative ways to help the healing process in these areas. The below lists is not an all encompassing one, but it will at least get you headed in the right direction.

Addiction Mental Health Advocates support Organizations:

“I found one of the problems with traditional programs for treating substance abuse is that they generally take a “one-size-fits-all” approach. For example: the assumption seems to say all alcoholics have the same “disease,” and therefore they should all be treated using the same drugs and counseling techniques. Nothing could be further from the truth. The biochemistry underlying your substance abuse problem is unique to your body. In fact, I’ve ordered in-depth biochemical profile tests for thousands of patients; I’ve never found two that were alike. You can accurately say that biochemistry is as unique as a fingerprint.”    ~ Dr Charles Gant (End your Addiction Now)

The term “Orthomolecular” was coined in 1968 by Dr Linus Pauling. He was a maverick in the field of natural treatment for mental health. He specifically worked with patients who were diagnosed with schizophrenia. Although he proved his treatment to be effective in the treatment of these patients in many of the cases, sadly, it was also at this same time that pharmaceutical drugs became more popular. Therefore, he was ostracized for his way of treating this dreaded disease. Orthomolecular comes from “Orth” meaning Correct or right and “Molecule” which is the simplest structure that displays the characteristics of a compound. So it literally means the “right molecule”

“For every drug that benefits a patient, there is a natural substance that can achieve the same effect.” ~ Dr. Carl C. Pfeffier (another maverick in the field of natural medicine).
